Some info in english

Karkurannan Ponitalli (Karkuranta Pony Stable) is a small virtual stable (founded 17.07.07) in Finland. Karkuranta means something like Runaway Shore. We breed quality Gotland ponies mostly for riding but few of our foals have also started a career with trotting races. We use only the best mares and stallions for breeding, and it's great to see a pony with many generations of virtualponies in pedigrees. In Finland we do not use the names of real horses in pedigrees, it's considered a bit rude and the real horse owners don't like it.

Most of the ponies we have bred have the word "Karkurannan" in their name. For example Karkurannan Erica and Karkurannan Quaffle. It means something like "From Karkuranta", and from that people can tell where the ponies are from. We have also other name for us, Carentoir's, Which is given to foals who have my first virtual gotlands pony Roora in their pedigree. For Example Carentoir's Jerobeam. The name Carentoir comes fom my older virtual stable.

Remember! Karkuranta is only a SIM game, none of the horses are real!

About pictures and other material

All the materials on our site are legally used. If the picture isn't taken by me, I have ALWAYS asked a permission to use it. I will not use pictures without the permission of the photographer. Same goes for all of the texts, most of it is written by me, but if there's something written by someone else, the writer's name is always mentioned!

I'm aware that some virtual horse owners are using illegal pictures (without asking the permission of the owner), but I really hope they'd stop doing that. They will bring a bad name to us all even if most of us are using only legal material. If we notice someone using illegal pictures, we'll try to do something about it.

How to read competition results

Trotting races (ravit)

First there's a flag which shows in which country the competition has been held. Then there's the date, like day.month.year. After the date there's name of the arranger and a link to the page where results can be seen. After that you can see the length and difficulty, like Tasoitusajo 1640m (Tasoitusajo means handicap race, 'volt start'). Then you see numbers like 1/6, which means that the horse has been first and there has been six competitors. After that, there's the horse's time and prize money. If the horse has won money, results are written in red colour, if it's only a minor competition just for getting more experience (then there's no prize money), it's written in grey and italics. Otherwise results are written with normal black font.

Showjumping, Dressage, Eventing (Esteratsastus, Kouluratsastus, Kenttäratsastus)
It's much like trotting results; flag, date, arranger, difficulty and result. After that there are mentions of prize money, other trophies, points etc. There are no colours though. If there's no flag, the race is Finnish. In Finnish showjumping, difficulty classes are 50cm, 80cm etc (the height of the highest barrier). In dressage it's Raviohjelma, HeC, HeB, HeA (in Swedish competitions LD, LC, LB & LA) from the easiest to harder. There are more difficult classes too, but those are not for our small ponies.

Pony Shows (Näyttelyt)
The main thing is as usual; flag, date, arranger, class, result and prizes. In Finnish shows, we have classes like Gotlanninrussoriit (Gotlands pony stallions), Muut Varsat (Foals) etc. The results we can have are JS (Recommended for Breeding), KuMa (Honours), irtoSERT (lesser Certificat), MVA Sert (Greater Certificat) and BIS 1-5 (Best in Show). If you collect enough of those certificats (irto & MVA), you can get titles like Champion and Virtuaalinen muotovalio (Virtual Superior Champion). If a horse has VIR MVA Ch at the beginning of his/her name (for example VIR MVA Ch Emily), the horse has both titles. In Finnish results there's also mentioned the judges name. Swedish shows are pretty different, less about titles, more about points.

Our terms of selling

We prefer not to sell ponies to incomplete and unfinished stables. I'd like to have the address of the pony's new page within a week. You should not alter the pony's basic information like name, breed, sex, pedigree or breeder's name. It would be great if you put a link to Karkuranta and to the pony's parent's pages on your new pony's page.
